Is being in the right place at the right time enough?

As I sit here and prepare for the study I’m teaching at our EL Family Reunion this weekend, I can’t help but ruminate on these two quotes from James Allen’s As A Man Thinketh.

“All that man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts.”

“Act is the blossom of thought. And joy and suffering are its fruits.”

I was just thinking about how sad it is that so many people simply aren’t aware of this truth that our thoughts produce our results.

Our results aren’t based on our circumstances or the opportunities we’re given. They’re based on our thoughts and our ability to act upon those thoughts.

A lot of people say that as long as they’re in the right place at the right time, that’s all they need to win.

Well, I’ve found that being at the right place at the right time isn’t always enough.

I remember being in the right place at the right time earlier on in my business endeavors.

But I remember looking around at all the other people around me who were winning, scratching my head, wondering what they were doing that I wasn’t doing. They were winning, but I wasn’t. And we were in each other’s vicinity.

It didn’t make sense to me. What was I doing wrong?

You see, I was at the right place at the right time, but I wasn’t operating at the level of awareness to see the opportunities that were right in front of me.

You can be in the right place at the right time, but if you can’t see the opportunity in front of you, how can you act on it then?

And remember, if we don’t act, we don’t achieve. And if we don’t achieve, we don’t get the results we desire.

On the other hand, you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and still find opportunities in front of you.

Right now a lot of people are facing many challenges because of our current economic climate.

But I just want to encourage you with this: now isn’t the time to give up. It’s the time to grow in your awareness so you can spot the opportunities that are there…

Because believe me, there are opportunities.

My friend, each circumstance offers an opportunity. But what matters is our awareness of the opportunity.
